Khyzhun // Физика и техника высоких давлений. - 2001. - 11, № 4. - С. 48-60. - Библиогр.: 26 назв. - англ.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES), and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) methods were used to study the electronic structure of substoichiometric cubic tantalum carbonitrides <$E {roman TaC} sub {x prime} , {roman N} sub {y prime} ,>, where <$E x prime~+~y prime~symbol Ы~0,8>. The carbonitrides were synthesized at high pressure (7 - 10 GPa) and high temperature (2100 - 2400 <$E symbol Р>C conditions. The XPS core-level spectra, the XES Ta <$E L sub beta sub 5^,~roman N~K sub alpha> and C <$EK sub alpha> bands and the XAS Ta <$E L sub III> edges were derived. It is shown that the substitution of carbon atoms by nitrogen atoms in the <$E {roman TaC} sub {x prime} , {roman N} sub {y prime} ,> system results in significant increasing a halfwidth of the Ta <$E L sub beta sub 5> band, while half-widths of both the N <$E K sub alpha> bands remain almost constant. In the above sequence of compounds the XPS Ta 4f core-level binding energies (BEs) increase almost monotonously, while the XPS N ls and C ls BEs remain constant within the experimental error. The present experimental results for the substoichiometric cubic <$E {roman TaC} sub {x prime} , {roman N} sub {y prime} ,> carbonitrides are compared with earlier experimental studies of stoichiometric cubic <$E {roman TaC} sub x roman N sub {1^-^x}> carbonitrides.
